2. Sharing from Sis Amy on 31Oct

Sis Amy shared about how she gave her only $20, which was supposed to feed her child for one week, to buy 20 hotdogs to feed the homeless people. When she obeyed God and did that, not only did she get to keep her $20, more homeless people got fed! The hotdog seller decided to give all the 100 hotdogs he had to all the homeless people that day. That happened 20 years ago, but the work of feeding the poor continues till today! Amazing, isn’t it? The hotdog seller also came to Christ and became involved in this work. God also blessed his business that he now has a few restaurants under his name. God is indeed no debtor to any man.

There’s also three more lessons I learnt from this story and the rest of her sharing:

No matter how much we have, it is never too little for God to use it for His greater purpose. But are we willing to give? God is a gentleman. He will not force you to do what you do not want. Giving is all about trusting in Him to provide (the skills, the money etc) and faith to believe in the providence we have not seen.

Obedience is the key for God to use us. When we empty ourselves and tell God, “All of You and none of Me”, we will see amazing things being done through our lives. It’s easy talk, but tough work. Will we choose to allow God to work through out lives? We need to be broken in all the right places. (Watch Jonathan Suber’s sermon: Broken in All the Right Places)

“All I need is You, Lord… It’s You, Lord… All I need is You…”

Do we really know what it means? I think it’s so true that you never know that Jesus is all you need until He is all you have. Sometimes He allows trials into our lives, so that we can come to know Him as El-Shaddai - The All Sufficient One & Jehovah Jireh - The Lord our Provider.
